What we do
We are part of the Outward Bound Trust and offer bursaries to support young people to experience a life-changing Outward Bound course. This is thanks to bequests from John Duke & Keith Blake. We accept applications from individuals and groups aged 13-19 who live within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Our courses take participants on a journey of self-discovery. They leave the familiar behind and head to the wild hills, lakes and lochs. They take on adventures, overcome challenges and learn about leadership, teamwork and resilience. Often these experiences can be life changing. You'll take journeys into the wild and explore the natural environment. Stretch your comfort zone with activities like hiking, canoeing, gorge scrambling, abseiling, rock climbing, rafting, kayaking and wild swimming. It is an amazing adventure!
Courses range from the 5 day Basecamp all the way up to the 19 day Pinnacle. You can find out more about the difference courses and choose your level of adventure. This fitness guide might also help you decide which course might be suitable for you.
We normally fund the Basecamp, Ridge and Summit courses. If you wish to attend a Pinnacle course, please contact us.
The 7, 14 or 19 day courses count for the residential section of the DofE award. You can find out more here.

We will subsidise the courses as follows:
Base Camp - 5 day - OBA cost £600 - you pay £180
Ridge - 7 day - OBA cost £820 - you pay £250 (suitable for DofE residential)
Summit - 14 day - OBA cost £1600 - you pay £320 (suitable for DofE residential)
Pinnacle - 19 day - OBA cost £2150 - you pay £430 (suitable for DofE residential)
For those with financial hardship, the Outward Bound Adventure fund will match fund our contribution, meaning the cost would be around £75 for the Ridge course. Please email us for more information.
You need to apply using our online form. We will then confirm availability with Outward Bound and the contribution you will pay and we will place the booking on your behalf and ask you to pay us the balance. This can be paid in instalments if needed.
